Data, Academic Planning & Institutional Research (DAPIR) is pleased to announce the hiring of two new staff members. Brad Sanders joined Feb. 13 in the new role of enterprise data management director, and Derek Field joined Feb. 27 as an institutional policy analyst.

Brad joins the team from the University of Wisconsin System where he served in multiple data, reporting, and analytics roles for almost a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from UW-Whitewater, is working on an MBA with a concentration in data analytics from UW-Parkside and holds various other professional certificates in the field.

The enterprise data management director position is a newly created role within DAPIR. The director will collaborate with enterprise-wide data programs to ensure alignment with data governance, data and analytics strategies, and the development of a UW-Madison integrated data warehouse. This role will partner with units across the institution to plan and implement a modernized data technology platform. He will also oversee the work of DAPIR’s data warehouse team.

Derek joins DAPIR from the State of Wisconsin where he most recently worked for the Department of Children and Families (DCF) as a data and analytics liaison. His role at DCF and with prior State of Wisconsin agencies were focused around implementing complex data and application development projects. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Madison and a Master of Public Affairs from the La Follette School of Public Affairs at UW-Madison, with a concentration in qualitative analysis and education policy.

Derek joins our team of institutional policy analysts who help gather, investigate, analyze, and summarize institutional data to support strategic planning and decision-making, policy development, policy evaluation, and resource allocation.
