DATA FORMAT
Primary Key Columns are identified with an asterisk(*).
Alphanumeric Data
VARCHAR2( N) (N) = maximum length. Field contains letters and/or numbers. Trailing blanks are eliminated.
Example: VARCHAR2 (5) could contain ‘ABC12’ or ‘ABC’ or ‘A’.
Numeric Data
NUMBER (N) (N) = length. Field contains only numbers.
NUMBER (X,Y) = format for numbers with decimal positions.
X = total number of digits Y = the number of digits after the decimal
Examples: NUMBER (6) represents 250012 NUMBER (6,2) represents 2500.12.
Date
DATE – Date can be in various formats. Date functions available with your query tool can be used to format the date.
Examples: DATE (YYYYMMDD), DATE (YYDDD), DATE (DD-MM-YY).

*Appointment_Key Number (15) A unique identifier for an individual appointment in the CHRIS system.
Position_Vacancy_Key Number (15) A unique identifier for an individual position vacancy in the CHRIS system.
HR_Transaction_Key Number (15) A unique identifier for an individual transaction in the CHRIS system.
Applicant_Type_Descr Varchar2(30) Identifies the type of applicant selected for this appointment.

Appointment_ID Number (8) A unique number assigned to each and every appointment. The assignment of an appointment ID number means a person has been selected but the appointment is not valid until the effective date is reached. An appointment record is the result of the association of a position with the individual who fills that position. A position is defined as a set of duties and responsibilities expected to be performed by the person who will be appointed. An appointment must exist for each person who is to be paid salary or stipend, and each person without pay who has a university affiliation.
Title_Code Varchar2(10) Used to identify the official University System title or WI civil service title for the appointment.
Title_Descr Varchar2(60) Descriptive name for the title.
Pay_Range_Code Varchar2(10) Code of pay range.
Pay_Rate Varchar2(10) Rate of pay.
Person_ID Number(10) A unique number assigned to each person. The number is always the same for the same person.
Employee_Name Varchar2(60) Name of employee.
Employee_First_Name Varchar2(30) First name of employee.
Employee_Middle_Name Varchar2(30) Middle name of employee.
Employee_Last_Name Varchar2(30) Last name of employee.
Gender_Code Char(1) Gender. Valid values are:
M – Male
F – Female
U – Unknown
O – Other
Heritage_Descr Varchar2(60) Racial/ethnic heritage of employe. This is a sensitive element. Changes should be controlled. In the conversion process to HRS, this value now depicts the primary value.
Valid values are:

Black/African American
Asian
American Indian/ Alaska Native
Hispanic/ Latino
White
Native Hawaiian/ Other Pacific Islander
Veteran_Ind Char(1) Indicates whether the person has identified him or herself as a veteran.
Valid values are:
Y – Yes
N – No
Handicap_Ind Char(1) A “handicapped” individual is a person who has or is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities. A physical or mental impairment is any physiological disorder or condition, cosmetic disfigurement, or anatomical loss which affects one or more of the following body systems: neurological; musculoskeletal; sense organs; speech organs; cardiovascular; reproductive; digestive; genitourinary; lymphatic; skin; endocrine. Also included are: mental retardation; organic brain syndrome; emotional or mental illness; learning disabilities; orthopedic impairments; cerebral palsy; epilepsy; muscular dystrophy; multiple sclerosis; cancer; heart disease; diabetes; emotional illness; drug addiction; and alcoholism. Major life activities means functions such as caring for one’s self, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, working, and receiving educational or vocational instruction.
Valid values are:

N – Is not handicapped
