- This data view contains information about degrees earned at external institutions. High school degree information for UW undergraduates admitted prior to Spring 1999 as new freshman is included. High school degrees information for undergraduates admitted after Spring 1999 is not included. All graduate students for whom external degree information is available have their previous high school and other degrees included. Some associate, masters and other degrees can be found here. External degree information is available for students enrolled since the summer term of the 1984-85 academic year.

- Primary Key Columns are identified with an asterisk(*)
- Alphanumeric Data
- VARCHAR2( N) (N) = maximum length. Field contains letters and/or numbers. Trailing blanks are eliminated.
Example: VARCHAR2 (5) could contain ‘ABC12’ or ‘ABC’ or ‘A’ - Numeric Data
- NUMBER (N) (N) = length. Field contains only numbers.
NUMBER (X,Y) = format for numbers with decimal positions.
X = total number of digits
Y = the number of digits after the decimal
Examples: NUMBER (6) represents 250012 NUMBER (6,2) represents 2500.12 - Date
- DATE – Date can be in various formats. Date functions available with your query tool can be used to format the date.
Examples: DATE (YYYYMMDD), DATE (YYDDD), DATE (DD-MM-YY)

*ID | Varchar2 (11) | ISIS personal Identifier. The ID will never be changed throughout the individual’s relationship with the University. This is not the same as Campus_ID. Only 10 characters are in use. |
*Ext_Org_ID | Varchar2 (11) | The code identifies the external organization that conferred the degree. The UW graduate school considers UW undergraduate degrees external. Legacy UW undergraduates will admitted as new freshman have their high school degrees listed here. Post legacy undergraduates will have their high school degrees listed in Adm_Appl_Data. All graduate students, for whom external degree information is in ISIS, will have their previous high school and other degrees listed here. In addition, some associate, masters and other degrees can be found here. |
*Ext_Degree_Number | Varchar2 (3) | The sequence number indicating the number of external degree records for the given student at the given external institution. |
Degree_Code | Varchar2 (8) | A code for the degree awarded to the student by the external institution. Numeric values usually correspond to UW-Madison degree codes (see the Awards_Main view). Alpha codes are free form and have no look-up table. |
Degree_Descr | Varchar2 (30) | A free-form description of the degree. |
Degree_Date | Date | The date the external degree was conferred. |
Extract_Date_Time | Date | The date and time these data were extracted. Format: YYYYMMDD HH24:MI:SS |
