DAPIR is fortunate to welcome three staff members to our office. James Yonker, Rosie Bae, and Adam Anderson recently joined the Institutional Research and Decision Support team as institutional policy analysts.
The Institutional Research and Decision Support team applies its knowledge of UW–Madison and the broader higher education landscape to analyze information about our students, faculty, staff, and administrative operations. The team’s data, policy, and peer comparison analyses inform strategic, academic, and budgetary planning decisions, providing context in a relevant and timely fashion.
James Yonker
Before joining DAPIR, James was most recently the Director of Strategic Diversity Planning & Research at UW–Madison’s Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement, where he led university-wide diversity analytics and research initiatives. He is a scholar of health and well-being, with a focus on improving the social climate in higher education. As a longstanding collaborator with the UW Survey Center, he contributes to innovative research and data collection strategies. James is an expert in survey research, methodology, and advanced statistical analysis, with publications spanning sociology, public health, medicine, and demography.
James holds a PhD in Sociology (Demography) and an MPH, along with bachelor’s degrees in Psychology, Sociology (Analysis & Research), and Statistics—all from UW–Madison! He previously held research roles at the Middleton VA Hospital and across UW–Madison.
When not busy working, James enjoys all things downtown Madison—Concerts on the Square, the Farmer’s Market, the Terrace, and more.
Rosie Bae
Rosie joined the UW–Madison community in 2020 as a data and analytics lead for the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Educational Achievement and is an active collaborator with and research affiliate of the UW Survey Center.
Rosie has also worked in research and analytics positions at the University of Pennsylvania and Harris County Public Health. She earned her Ph.D. in health communication from the University of Pennsylvania and her bachelor’s degree in communication and master’s degree in communication management from the University of Southern California.
Rosie is excited to bring her 10+ years of experience to projects that promote data-informed decision-making.
As a huge Dodgers fan, Rosie is halfway through her goal of visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums with her husband. She also enjoys traveling, trying out new restaurants/cafes, and taking long walks.
Adam Anderson
Before joining the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement as an assessment and evaluation lead in 2023, Adam worked in analytics positions at the University of Michigan and Wisconsin Physicians Service. He earned a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Wisconsin’s La Follette School, a master’s degree in information science from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts and film studies from the University of Minnesota.
Adam is an avid baseball fan with a love for the Twins and Brewers (in that order). He reads many novels, enjoys crossword puzzles, and plays poker. Adam also served in the Peace Corps.
