DATA FORMATS
Primary Key Columns are identified with an asterisk(*)
Alphanumeric Data
VARCHAR2( N) (N) = maximum length. Field contains letters and/or numbers. Trailing blanks are eliminated.
Example: VARCHAR2 (5) could contain ‘ABC12’ or ‘ABC’ or ‘A’
Numeric Data
NUMBER (N) (N) = length. Field contains only numbers.
NUMBER (X,Y) = format for numbers with decimal positions.
X = total number of digits
Y = the number of digits after the decimal
Examples: NUMBER (6) represents 250012 NUMBER (6,2) represents 2500.12
Date
DATE – Date can be in various formats. Date functions available with your query tool can be used to format the date.
Examples: DATE (YYYYMMDD), DATE (YYDDD), DATE (DD-MM-YY)
Column Name Format Description
Course_Key Number (8) A unique identifier that is system generated. Useful for joining to other course data views.
*Course_Offering_Number Number (2) A sequential number given to each different offering of a course. Most courses have only one offering; crosslisted courses have multiple offerings, and each one has a unique Course Offering Number.
Academic_Group_Code Varchar2 (5) The school/college offering the course.  Formerly College Code
Subject_Code Varchar2 (8) The timetable department number of the course. For example, 600 is Mathematics.
Subject_Descr Varchar2 (30) The department name corresponding to the subject code.
Subject_Descr_Short Varchar2(10) The short department name corresponding to the subject code.
Catalog_Number Varchar2 (10) The course number associated with the title of the course.
Catalog_Print_Ind Varchar2 (1) Catalog print indicator
Y = Course is printed in course catalog.
N = Course is not printed in course catalog.
Academic_Organization_Code Varchar2 (10) Represents a group of related subject codes. For example, French (400) and Italian (508) are two different subjects but the same academic organization. This is used primarily to establish security levels in ISIS.
Course_Typically_Offered Varchar2(10) No longer populated
Extract_Date_Time Date The date and time these data were extracted.
Format : YYYYMMDD HH24:MI:SS
