During the May Badger Data Network, we focused on generative AI, including institutional guidelines and ethical use, and examples of AI in action. We provided an opportunity to share current AI use, pressing questions, and ideas for additional support.
Four use cases
DAPIR staff highlighted four use cases.
- Translating dense Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) into digestible, actionable pieces.
- Learning new code methods.
- Working with open-ended survey feedback.
- Refactoring code.
All use cases adhered to institutional guidelines and emphasized a human-centered approach, including the verification of AI-generated content. They also reinforced that AI complements—rather than replaces—the critical thinking skills of humans and is best used in tandem with the rich institutional knowledge and higher education expertise people provide.
